With Shakespeare as our endless inspiration, our mission is to serve as a vibrant catalyst for cultural engagement, education, and social justice to benefit the people of Marin County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and beyond.

What We Do

The programs we provide are:

ON STAGE
Professional mainstage productions and performances by the Returned Citizens Theatre Troupe

EDUCATION
Shakespeare and theatre education, with a focus on schools serving low-income families

SOCIAL JUSTICE
Working in 13 California state prisons as the leading provider of Shakespeare in Prison programs in the world

In Progress: We are in the middle of a capital campaign to renovate our outdoor amphitheatre and build a year-round indoor Performing Arts & Education Center in downtown San Rafael.
