*Recruiting background or experiencing sourcing, interviewing and hiring board candidates
*Experience working with stakeholders to accomplish goals
Availability
* Works remotely from anywhere
* 5-10 hours of 3-6 weeks

What we have in place
  • *Our board currently consists of 5 people with expertise in disability services, grass roots organizing, program evaluation and strategic management

    *We seek to expand the board to approximately 9 members and have a particular need for board members with expertise in fundraising in order to support organizational strength and sustainability.

    Our critical organizational goals relate to this project are 1) grow our Board of Directors 2) increase and diversify our fundraising.
How this will help
This project will save us $7,822 , allowing us to save money to invest in operational needs related to expanding opportunities for people with developmental disabilities & their families to direct their own services and in doing so live freer lives.

Though our current board members bring a commitment to the mission, a diverse array of skills and lived experience, our small size and limited expertise in the area of fundraising is constraining our ability to effectively protect the financial viability of the organization & therefore the people SSMD serves.

Our mission

Shared Support Maryland, Inc. assists people in developing and maintaining the self-direction of their services and supports, fosters and grows community connections and relationships, and values the ambitions and goals of the people we support by joining in their pursuits and sharing in their successes. In doing so we inspire systemic change.

What we do

Shared Support Maryland, Inc is a Maryland-based, not-for-profit, small business providing completely personalized support to over 100 people with significant developmental disabilities. There are fewer than 100 agencies in the country that provide this new type of person-centered, customized support and service and we are the only one in Maryland. The people we support live in their own homes, they hire & control their own support staff, hold jobs that pay a living wage, & spend their time in activities of their choosing.
