New Employee Onboarding
New Employee Onboarding
Project details
What we need
- A written document that identifies the Organization's timeline, onboarding goals, recommended responsibilities and support for new hire success:
- An onboarding checklist and timeline template that can be completed by the Organization for each new hire
- A suggested checklist and template outlining onboarding methods the Organization should pursue to meet its goals (human resources and information technology materials, department presentations, mentor assignment, skill sharing, etc.)
- Recommendations on how to delegate onboarding responsibilities within the Organization or department, if applicable
- A short plan for communicating with the new hire prior to their first day of work
Additional details
The Institute for Nonprofit Practice is a small, growing entrepreneurial organization. We were founded in Boston and have expanded to serve four communities in the New England region. This fall we are launching our program in New York with plans to scale nationally over the next several years. Our team has grown from four to thirteen over the last year and will continue to grow as we scale. Now is a critical time to build up our internal HR systems and structures to support our staff.
What we have in place
- As the COO I will be the lead on this project and have my SPHR license from SHRM. Since joining the team in May I have completed a comprehensive review of our HR files, job descriptions, and compensation. We need support with crafting a comprehensive new employee onboarding program that can adapt and be updated as we grow and evolve. We do have checklists and processes in place but we have outgrown them.
How this will help
This project will save us $8,686 , allowing us to invest in professional development and training for our novice HR and operations team so they can effectively support and implement our new structures and systems.
It is critical to our ability to provide a best in class employee experience, especially as we hire Executive Directors to launch new sites.
