Employee Handbook
Employee Handbook
Project details
What we need
- Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
- Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details
Our handbook has not been updated since 2012 and is very out of date. I know it is missing at least 1 important mandate; NYS Sexual Harassment training. I'm not sure what else might be missing and am looking for feedback on policies or clauses that should be added/removed. I am also looking for advice related to adding COVID policies.
What we have in place
- We currently have a digital copy of our current employee handbook, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have an Executive Director eager to get our org up to compliance, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,240 , allowing us to invest in new residency programs that are affordable and accessible for artists of all skill levels!
Our organization is on a trajectory for growth, and we need to make sure we are ready for that growth by strengthening our internal operations. Having a clear, informative handbook that is easy to understand is an important element of making Book Arts a great place to work for both long-term employees and those yet to come.
Project plan
Our mission
The WNY Book Arts Center ('Book Arts') promotes greater understanding of printing and book-related arts through education, creation, and exhibition for a broad and diverse community.
What we do
Located in the heart of downtown Buffalo, the WNY Book Arts Center is a community print shop and studio for letterpress, screen printing, book binding, paper making, calligraphy, origami, and more! We are a nonprofit organization and a working museum dedicated to preserving the book arts through collaboration and innovation, bridging antique equipment and processes with modern artmaking techniques, and celebrating the heritage of Buffalo's' printing industry. We are proud to act as a hub to create and foster a collaborative community by providing opportunities to artists and educators, and all those in creative pursuits.
