Employee Handbook
Employee Handbook
Project details
What we need
- Audit of existing Employee Handbook, or internal communications regarding employment policies
- Edit or creation of a new Employee Handbook, which may include any of the following: Standards of Conduct, Work Schedules, Leave Policies, Termination Policies, Safety and Security, Anti-Discrimination policies, Compensation and Benefits policies, any Non-Disclosure Agreements or Conflict of Interest statements that may apply, and any other pertinent information
Additional details
Our current Employee Handbook was prepared for us by a former payroll service in 2014. Since then, a few individual policies -- including PTO -- have been updated and approved by the board. With an eye toward streamlining the handbook, our initial goal for the audit is to ID what may/should be eliminated. Thereafter, our goal is to ID 1) what needs to be added and 2) what needs to be updated.
What we have in place
- We currently have a current Employee Handbook and several updated policies, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have updated bylaws and new strategic plan, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $2,430 , allowing us to invest those resources in programs and operations. More than time dollars saved, however, it is expertise we most seek, to ensure our HR policies align with industry best practices.
RTPI has undergone a major transition over the past two years, hiring a new CEO to lead the organization through a dynamic strategic planning process. The plan marks a significant shift for RTPI, setting it on a course to fulfill its potential as a nature art museum of national significance. Over the course of 2021, several new staff were hired -- underscoring the reason for updating the employee handbook.

Through world class exhibitions and programs, RTPI illuminates the beauty of nature; challenges us to confront environmental issues of regional, national and global concern; and inspires us to preserve the earth's biodiversity - with a particular emphasis on the natural area wonders of Western New York.
