The Center for Great Apes has an annual global art contest. It is one of the significant fundraisers and awareness events for the sanctuary. The contest will open March 1, 2022. Last year we more than doubled entries (500).
We would like a press release announcing the contest opening, promoting the Youth Contest division and the Adult division. Also - the special category animal is Tiger (2022 is the year of the tiger). The contest simply asks the art to reflect "endangered" in any way.
What we have in place
- We currently have a sample past press release, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have links and images, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $844 , allowing us to provide care and enrichment for the resident apes. It costs, on average, $25,000 per year to care for the rescued apes. We currently have 71 apes in our dedicated, healthy, enriching care.
Two goals of the organization are to increase awareness and raise funds. 100% of funds raised from Art4Apes go directly to the Center for Great Apes. The contest introduces the sanctuary to new audiences which is important for education, awareness and fundraising. Sponsors cover the art contest prizes.

Our mission
The Center for Great Apes' mission is to provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been rescued or retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or from the exotic pet trade.
