Biography

Most of my career has been in secondary and post-secondary education with a focus on issues of educational equity and access. Mid-career, I became engaged in K-16 policy and systemic education reform at organizations such as Education Development Center and Research Policy Practice (RPPI), which completed the first Charter School Evaluation for OERI. In 1998, I assumed the role of Executive Director of a new NPO located in East Palo Alto, CA: Foundation for a College Education (FCE) which is dedicated to helping first-generation and low-income students of color enroll in and graduate from college. Following my 10 years with FCE and after decades of fund raising, I shifted my work to the development arena, working in both K-12 and higher ed and, most recently, in human services at MAB Community Services. MAB is a special place and it has been a privilege to work on behalf of individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve the life goals we all aspire to. Given that MAB is essentially three organizations rolled up into one, branding and communications can be tricky. But, MAB has a very compelling story and is having even more compelling impact on the lives of 1600+ individuals.
While, I have experience in all aspects of advancement, grant writing is my strong suit and I enjoy finding alignment between MAB's mission and that of the many exceptional corporations and foundations that want to make a difference.
On a personal note, I grew up in and went to college in MA, lived in the DC area for a stint, and then spent 12 years in CA - which I miss terribly (especially the hiking!). But, I love being back in New England and now reside in RI.
