Membership Strategy
Membership Strategy
Project details
What we need
- A Membership Strategy document of 2-4 pages, including analysis of the Organization’s current membership program, step-by-step guide to a new or improved program, growth goals and creative outreach strategies
Additional details
During COVID we have lost 40% of our membership and are slowly recovering. We are also working on revamping our membership structure and planning on opening a new facility in late 2024 (replacing our 65 year old facility). Our goal is to get back to pre-COVID numbers and double our membership count when we move into the new building.
What we have in place
- We currently have a strong team in place ready to make this happen, which should make it easy for you to get started. We also have membership data for the past ten years and marketing support, and the ability to provide any other information you need.
How this will help
This project will save us $3,400 , allowing us to focus on our $50M capital campaign to open our new facility.
Our membership is key to our financial success. We are facing a significant operating loss this year and need to stabilize/grow membership. With our new facility plans moving forward quickly we need to rebuild our current membership base and expand it as we move into the new facility.

Our mission
Greater Midland is network of centers dedicated to creating community and improving wellness by providing education, youth development, sports & recreation, fitness and social connection for every phase of life.
What we do
For 100 years, the Greater Midland Community Centers have connected Midlanders to one another and created memories that are a part of thousands of families' history. With over 10,000 members, our impact is both visible and our impact is significant. Consider this:
* 326 children enrolled in our early care & education program with over 60% low-income.
* 14,608 school-aged kids enrolled in programs and almost 5,000 in summer camp.
* 16,154 adults participating in fitness & wellbeing programs.
* 13,749 meals served over the summer to low-income residents and over 3,000 families fed through our food banks.
Greater Midland has long been known for its programming and willingness to look beyond the obvious to deliver community-based activities that makes Midland one of the nation's top places to raise a family. We measure our impact across all nine of our sites to ensure that:
* Our youngest learners are ready for school
* All kids are connected to a caring adult
* Our kids and adults are moving every day
* Our seniors are connected to the community
Testimonials
Michael was great to work with. He listened to our needs and developed a comprehensive report to help guide us. He provided concrete ideas and suggestions that will assist us in rebuilding our membership base.
The team at Greater Midland was delightful to work with on this project. They are caring, sincere, and dedicated to their mission, provided me with plenty of background information, and were fun to work with. I look forward to watching them continue to grow their vibrant community center post-pandemic and as they work toward moving into a new facility in the near future.
